Mobile Mapping — Bahrain & Saudi Arabia
Mobile Mapping Survey Services in Bahrain & Saudi Arabia
RIIM delivers mobile mapping surveys across Bahrain and Saudi Arabia — vehicle-mounted LiDAR and photogrammetry systems that capture road corridors, infrastructure assets, and urban environments rapidly and accurately for engineering design and asset management.
What RIIM Delivers in Manama
Mobile mapping transforms the speed and cost of large-area infrastructure surveys. RIIM's vehicle-mounted LiDAR and photogrammetry systems capture road corridors and infrastructure assets at driving speed — covering kilometres of road in hours rather than days. The resulting point cloud and imagery data provides engineers with a precise, measurable record of the existing environment for design, asset management, and change detection.

Frequently Asked Questions
What is mobile mapping and how does it work?
Mobile mapping uses sensors mounted on a moving vehicle — typically LiDAR scanners and cameras — to capture the geometry and appearance of the surrounding environment as the vehicle drives. GPS and inertial navigation systems georeference the captured data in real time. The result is a georeferenced point cloud and photographic record of the survey corridor, captured at driving speed.
What road corridor data can RIIM capture with mobile mapping?
RIIM's mobile mapping system captures road surface geometry, kerbs and footways, road markings, signs and signals, street furniture, drainage features, overhead utilities, and building facades. The captured data can be used for road condition assessment, asset inventory, design surveys, and as-built documentation.
Can mobile mapping data be combined with underground utility surveys?
Yes. RIIM regularly combines mobile mapping above-ground corridor surveys with GPR and EPL underground utility surveys to produce integrated datasets showing both the surface environment and subsurface utilities. This combined dataset is particularly valuable for road infrastructure design and utility asset management.
What accuracy does RIIM achieve with mobile mapping in Bahrain?
RIIM's mobile mapping system achieves absolute positional accuracy of 30 to 50mm in open-sky conditions using RTK GPS. In urban canyons where GPS signal is obstructed, accuracy may reduce to 50 to 100mm. Relative accuracy within the point cloud is typically 10 to 20mm. All accuracy statements are validated against independent check points.
