Cavity & Void Detection Survey

Identify hidden voids before they become critical failures.

Overview

Subsurface cavities and voids pose severe risks to infrastructure, roads, and buildings — often with little surface warning. RIIM's cavity detection surveys use a combination of GPR, ERT, and microgravity methods to locate and characterise voids, dissolution features, and karst formations before they cause structural damage or ground collapse.

How It Works

Our engineers deploy multi-method geophysical arrays across the survey area. GPR identifies shallow voids and disturbed ground; ERT profiles resistivity contrasts associated with air-filled or water-filled cavities; and microgravity measurements detect density anomalies at greater depth. Results are integrated to produce a comprehensive cavity risk map.
