Gravity Survey

Detect density contrasts deep beneath the surface.

Overview

Gravity surveys measure minute variations in the Earth's gravitational field caused by differences in subsurface density. RIIM uses high-precision microgravity instruments to map geological structures, detect voids, and characterise subsurface stratigraphy — providing deep geophysical intelligence that complements shallower geophysical methods.

How It Works

Our field teams acquire gravity readings at closely spaced stations across the survey area using CG-6 Autograv gravimeters. Readings are corrected for terrain, tidal, and instrumental drift effects, then processed to produce Bouguer anomaly maps. Anomaly patterns are modelled and interpreted to identify subsurface density contrasts associated with geological features, voids, or buried structures.

Applications

  • Void and cavity detection at depth
  • Geological structure and fault mapping
  • Salt dome and evaporite dissolution detection
  • Buried valley and palaeochannel identification
  • Mineral exploration and resource assessment
  • Infrastructure site geohazard screening

Deliverables

  • Bouguer anomaly maps and gravity profiles
  • 2D / 2.5D density models
  • Geological interpretation maps
  • Integrated geophysical interpretation report
  • Recommendations for follow-up investigation
